I recently had an opportunity to see Microsoft's LiveMeeting. Their collaboration and desktop sharing application is all that's expected from a company like Microsoft with their very skilled programming machine. I've experienced other programs and services that included software for remote pc support within their application or remote pc control is the centerpiece for their online service or solution. Gotoassist, which I thought was a great software application for both online remote support and conferencing & collaboration, has it's features matched and probably surpassed by Microsoft's implementation.

Software for PC Remote Support may not be what Livemeeting was soley intended or designed to perform but the online support application capapilities work wonders and has some options like sharing only selected application with the remote tech or sharing the entire remote desktop. In addition, both the local and remote users can have control of the remote computer.
If there's a drawback to the way the support software installs on the remote computer, it's the fact that it uses the Microsoft Windows installer and no backup method (that I saw). There's no fallback if the installer isn't working properly on the computer. An error is generated and the web browser redirects. There's no fallback to a java applet for example or even just running a basic executable for starting a session.
